Transgender Life
My make up was expertly applied (big thanks to Donna) and after a few final adjustments I teetered off to my waiting cab. It never fails - the pure rush of excitement, nerves and adrenaline as I step out of the Shop - and walked the few steps to the cab. With Donna waving me off, I headed back to my hotel before venturing off to the Northern Concord.
The walk from my hotel was about 500m and a little too far in stilettos, so I put on some 4" sandals and headed off from my hotel. In the bar there were already a number of girls and before long I found myself chatting away with a Bacardi and Coke in hand and renewing a number of previous acquaintances.
This where the Northern Concord is so great - you just cannot help but feel at ease and make friends, they are always so very welcoming. (Well-done NC). While many girls were more than happy to stay the evening at the International I soon found myself with a little group who were going to hit the town - well, the village area! This is another beauty of this event, there is just so much going on in such a small well-contained and safe area.
Our first stop was a delightful bar called Vanilla. This was principally a Girl only bar (I'm being subtle here) but was very friendly and easygoing. While a few girls shot a game of pool, I slipped out to my hotel as it literally was next door, and reappeared in some of my 6" stiletto sandals (and I don't mean platforms).
Our next venue was a short walk away up Canal Street to Churchill's, which is a recently refurbished and lively pub cum show bar and despite its busy nature we ourselves ideally situated to view the mayhem and fun of the shows and acts in the stage area. This was great fun and we could easily have stayed longer if it were not for the fact that there were still numerous venues for us to visit.
Off we set down Canal Street again to the New Union pub and disco (and stage show) at the bottom of the road - the cobbled street was a little wearing in 6" heels, but I was not going to be deterred.
Here there was the opportunity to dance the night away if you wished, dispersed with some remarkable floor shows. After a few more Bacardis here we set off for our final destination of the evening with was Napoleons Night Club. On route we passed the door to my hotel, so I took the opportunity of changing into my other outfit for the evening, which was a black pvc mini skirt and top. By this time my heels were taking their toll so I went back to my 4" ones.
I met up with the rest of the girls in the bar at Napoleons - this is where everyone tends to end up at the end of the evening. (It may be down to the fact that there are free sandwiches at the bar around 1 am!). Anyway it has a small but cosy dance floor and also us girls get free entry as well. Our time out draws to an end, and around 2am I take my leave and head back round the corner to my hotel room.
I must say a big thank you to Steffie, Leanne and Danielle for making me most welcome. I'm only sorry we could not show more pictures in this Diary but we only used one of those throw away cameras and may of the photos did not come out too well. Next time I will bring my digital camera and get all the girls!
Future Diaries coming up soon: visit to a London Fashion Fair and a photo shoot in London's historic dock lands area. And hopefully a real secretary for the day - you never know!
Hugs, Andrea
