Andrea's Diary (Part 12)

For my night out, I had brought a fabulous slinky silver dress in a sale in Oxford Street the week before - and this was the ideal occasion to try it out.

Once again many thanks to everyone who has emailed me regarding these Diaries - I'm still looking for a real office or shop to work in for a few hours one day in the week so if you can help, please email andmiz@tiscali.co.uk. I have had a few other offers and these I'm sure could be an interesting experience!

New Club Night in London

As previously mentioned in my Diaries there is a new once a month Saturday nightclub in London, called Transmission. (Its next to the Barbican underground station in Long Lane in a bar called The Extra time Bar and is usually on every first Saturday of the month). The club has been set up purely with the aim of providing all us girls with a good music, dancing and social interaction which is welcoming to everyone - for first timers and those rather shy - it's a particularly safe and friendly environment, where you can strut your stuff.

Run by two girls, one of which Vicky Valentine I have known for a while, the club compliments other established London Saturday night venues. It was with this in mind that I made a last minute decision to go along and find out for myself.

As usual I wanted to go to Transformation at Euston first for my make up. The Club as with many does not open until 9.00 officially (but I suspect you could always get there earlier for a quiet drink), I found my self running a little late due to traffic from Saturday afternoon shoppers and only arrived at Transformation at around 6.30.

Now please give the girls here some consideration, they finish at 8.00 after a long day they would appreciate that you give them about 2 hours to get you properly made up. Fortunately for me, they weren't too busy and as I had already done a lot of my preparation we would be ok for time.

For my night out, I had brought a fabulous slinky silver dress in a sale in Oxford Street the week before - and this was the ideal occasion to try it out. As I was also going to drive there, I changed into my boots with a meagre 3" heel to begin with. (My proper heels were for later!)

Having said my farewells to the girls at Transformation (special thanks to Elaine for doing a fantastic job on the make up) I left about 7.45 to start my night out. As I wanted to go to the Club once it got going, I first drove through to West London to the Philbeach Hotel (which is also the venue of the Monday night Lipstick Club) and a known location for girls to meet up for a night out.

In the reception I lost my boots for my 6" stiletto heel sandals and made my way down to the basement bar. It was no time at all when I met up with a number of girls - all who were heading off to Transmission later.

Not wishing to leave it too late, I set off (boots back on!) for Transmission with another girl all the way over from South Africa called Robin. We had a few small detours (I got lost a bit!) before parking 100m away across the road from the Club.

With 6" heels back on, Robin walked - I teetered - into the Club, a very polite doorman keeping the door open for us. The Club has 3 floors, a cloakroom / changing room on the first, bar and seating on the ground, and the disco, dance floor and another bar in the basement. Already there were many girls, boys and admirers (nothing too 'heavy', and a great party feel. We were soon welcomed by Vicky who was also about to do her turn down in the disco, and it was not long before many of the girls we met at the Philbeach also started appearing.

Now there's only one-way to dance in 6" heels - and that's carefully!

I ended up with a really global group of girls - besides Robin, there was Rachel from Hong Kong, Pauline from France, and another Andrea from Wales.

Like all good things the evening went in no time at all and in the early hours I was bidding farewell to many new friends. Besides exchanging email addresses, we all hoped to meet up for a girls night out next year!

Finally, this may well be the last Diary for 2002. May I wish everyone seasons greetings and a happy new year. If you have any comments or subjects you would like me to cover in future Diaries I will be delighted to hear from you.

Hugs - Andrea
