Andrea's Diary (Part 3)

Well back in the summer of last year I was fortunate enough to visit Manchester, UK, on a Wednesday evening again. This is traditionally a 'Tranny' evening around the Manchester Village area, which has numerous clubs and bars, which are all lively, friendly, and welcoming.

So what was I wearing? Well, I wore a black cotton shirtdress with a thin red belt, sandals with 6" heel stilettos (!!), and my short red PVC jacket. The shirtdress I brought in River Island in Oxford Street - I tried it on there (dressed of course) - no problem, they were really helpful. It is very short with front poppers and side splits (hence the legs!).

I knew that I would not be long before I would need to change my sandals for some a little less high - but hey - I thought I would start (in the light evening) in something a little spectacular.

The cab dropped me 20 yards from my Hotel and I returned to my room to drop off my 'other clothes'. Having checked that I still looked fine I left my Hotel and set off down Canal Street for the Northern Concord at the Hollywood Show Bar. The pavement fortunately was not too uneven but nonetheless my 6" heels (no platforms) made that distinctive sound. (A tip here is if you do wear really high heels like mine, then wear ones that secure your heel to the sandal - then when you walk you are less likely to drag the heel of the sandal along the ground - but be warned you still need to have practiced walking in these heights first if you are to avoid falling into an unlady-like heap!)

The short walk in the warm summers evening while its still light, in heels that make your whole body taught and controlled, with a hem line that make legs go forever is always a thrill for me - you know you are being admired - but don't be distracted - a nice simile goes down well.

At the Hollywood Show Bar there is an upstairs bar that's reserved each Wednesday - for the Northern Concord. This is a brilliant club that's been running for many years now and must be one of the friendliest of all. There were already a number of 'girls' there, and as is always the case at this excellently run gathering you are made to feel at home and soon get chatting. I recognised a few from my last visit in November the year before, and we renewed acquaintances. After a few drinks 4 of us decided to visit some of the other venues. For this I changed my 6" heels for some red sandals with (only!) 4" heels.

Firstly we went to a pub (bar) that I also visited on my previous trip - it is a lively venue called the Via Fosa which has a mixed crowed. It was a bit dingy downstairs where we were seated so after a couple of drinks we soon decided to venture elsewhere.

Here came a delightful discovery - a new bar/venue the other side of the canal called TriBiCal (which apparently stands for - Triangle by the side of the canal - well so they say!). This was a really friendly jazz type club/bar where the music was not at all loud despite it being live - which allowed you to have a conversation without shouting. All very relaxed and easy going - I'm definitely going there again. The bar staff were really nice and welcoming.
