Andrea's Diary (Part 9)

Travelling from where you have changed to where you are going is also a key consideration. Many of you would consider using your car, which is safe and convenient. Two key things here are make sure you can drive ok in your heels etc., and if you have an incident or the police stop you, be sure to tell the entire truth - don't try to give your feminine name or false details. (The police have seen it all before and should not be fazed out by your appearance), as long as you're not Drinking and Driving of course.
Where possible I like to stay overnight in a hotel near to where I'm going. Again you will easily find that many Hotels are familiar with us girls, especially the ones near a known venue. If you need to travel, taxis (and to a lesser extent minicabs) are an easy option. Public transport is an alternative that if planned can be very easy to use, especially buses. Obviously, late at night this is probably not the safest or most convenient way of travelling though.
The key thing here is to go along the route and to wherever you're going, in your male self first. Know your way around, and if going to a club or restaurant you're not too sure about - go in and say what you are doing: I'm coming here tomorrow dressed as a woman does that cause you any problems? Believe it or not most are genuinely interested in what you are doing and if you have a photo to show them that breaks the ice. At the end of the day your money is as good as everyone else, but you and your friends want to feel comfortable if you are going to enjoy yourselves. The other thing is that you will be far better equipped to cope when things go wrong.
Many Clubs including the Northern Concord and Trans-Mission also have dedicated rooms where you can change (and often more importantly, change back) if you want to. Again its best to check direct with them first to confirm opening and closing times.
Presentation - it's simple - dress for the occasion. Having said that, lets face it we all want this to be an opportunity to wear our favourite and most stunning outfits, but be realistic and consider how convincing a girl you wish to be. I'm no exception, I love very short skirts and high heels, but I know my physical limitations, if I want to remain viewed by others as a real girl, I often ensure my top is more demure - so I don't look to OTT. Also having a clear idea where you are going will allow deciding what is best to still achieve some proportion of blending in. Sexy clothes will always attract attention - for example I know that men will be looking at my long legs and I'm prepared for that, I recommend that you think about what you wear and how much you are ready for any reactions you could encounter.
