Many 'girls' would love to go out dressed (to the nines!) in the evening and also maybe because they may feel a little more confident under the cover of darkness and be with other girls.

There are many other smaller things you need to consider, which cumulatively help you to produce a convincing appearance, such as a handbag, jewellery, etc.

Make up details are clearly important, glitter and bright party colours are great - and to some degree if you go a little over the top it won't be too out of place - again attention to detail: nails, shaving etc is needed if you are to become totally convincing.

Finally your general deportment needs to be right - as much as you may want hurry down the road, you are now a woman in heels, take your time, look where you're going and relax! Also at any venue behave as the glamorous woman you wish to be - that pint of bitter and a straw are definitely out!

Be Prepared - things will happen around you and may adversely change your plans, if your're prepared for these eventualities then you will retain your feminine appearance and cope with getting yourself out of a potentially awkward situation. Don't kid yourself that it may not happen!

The most common (yes even for me) is you get read. Some bloke shouts out to his mate "hey there's a man dressed as a girl", or worse still they stand beside you and stare. One simple golden rule is don't respond: think that they must be referring to someone else, and just get on with what you planned to do. This is where having a purpose is so important (you're on a mission!). If you're not looking where you're walking in your heels, you simply look straight through that person because you are going somewhere. Remember you're in a public place, its they who are making a scene not you, don't be daunted.

Most clubs and bars that are girl friendly usually have a mixed clientele, and often the most tolerant are the gay clubs - I particularly like these as although I'm not gay the atmosphere is always relaxed and it gives an opportunity to be asked for a dance. But again here you need to be ready with how you would respond to such a request - in a demure and feminine way! Be prepared for a friendly pat on the backside - it seems to be a sign of admiration for a sexy looking 'girl'!!
